Mia Jativa, known as “Jahtiva” takes her semi-eponymous name from a clever play on words that translates to "God's Flower." With a soulful yet powerful vocal delivery, her stylistic choices are influenced by genres such as jazz, blues, hip-hop and the classic roots reggae style of the 1970’s. Jahtiva released her debut EP “Medicine Woman” in 2024, featuring an all-star cast of world-renowned musicians/engineers including Grammy winners Santa Davis on drums and Fabian Cooke on the mix. A full length music video filmed in Hawaii for the EP’s title track soon followed.
In 2025, Jahtiva released her second EP titled “Crucial Lover.” The EP features another excellent line-up of all-star musicians and includes the track “Springtime Love” which has become a crowd favorite. In the fall of 2025, Jahtiva toured Northern California where she found herself guesting with Fortunate Youth at the first ever Reggae Rise Up festival in Oregon. Inspired from the tour, Jahtiva immediately hit the studio and recorded “Ghost Train.” The song is a collaboration with violinist “Man of the Forests” and includes reggae legends Fully Fullwood and Tony Chin on bass and guitar respectively. The track was recorded at 17th Street Recording Studios and produced by the undeniably talented Lewis Richards (Dirty Heads, Slightly Stoopid, Sublime). Several dub tracks were to follow including mixes by Scientist, E.N. Young, Brizion, Noisemaker, Stoney Eye and Roger Rivas.
Following the release of her first two EP’s, several singles and a string of well-received performances including the House of Blues and Music Box San Diego, Jahtiva’s momentum is at an all-time high. The twenty-three year old continues marching towards her goal of creating powerful, inspiring music and continuing to connect with her growing fan base. Jahtiva is honored to reconnect with reggae legends Santa Davis and Tony Chin from the Soul Syndicate for her third EP which is set to release in the summer of 2026. With this record, again produced by Lewis Richards, Jahtiva is setting her sights on expanding reach beyond California and is manifesting bookings at reggae festivals as well as partnerships with international reggae artists, DJ’s and sound systems in 2027.
